Voltas AC Error E1
Diagnostic Protocol & Repair Guide
Technician Note
Always isolate power before inspecting high-voltage components.
System Fault Detected: Voltas AC Error E1
Continuing to run equipment with this active code may void warranties or cause permanent mechanical failure.
Voltas Error E1
Room Temperature Sensor Fault.
Your AC has lost its sense of touch.
Common Cause
Rat Bite (Cut Wire)
Check
Loose Jack/Pin
Solution
Replace Sensor
The “Blind” AC Problem
The E1 Error refers to the Room Temperature Sensor (often a black plastic-tipped probe located near the air filters). Its job is to tell the PCB how hot the room is.
“Open” means the wire is cut or the jack is unplugged (infinite resistance).
“Short” means the internal components have melted or fused (zero resistance).
In both cases, the AC doesn’t know the temperature, so it refuses to start the compressor.
1 Visual Inspection (DIY)
Check for Rat Damage
Open the front grill. Look at the black wires on the right side. Are they chewed? This is the #1 cause of E1 errors in India.
Loose Connector
If the AC was recently serviced, the technician might have pulled the sensor wire loose from the PCB jack.
Moisture Damage
Sometimes, water from a leak can get into the sensor head, causing erratic resistance readings (Short Circuit).
Atlas Aircon Repair Protocol
Correct Sensor Replacement Steps:
- 01.Identify Resistance Value Voltas ACs typically use 5k Ohm, 10k Ohm, or 15k Ohm sensors (at 25°C). We measure the old sensor to match the correct replacement.
- 02.Wire Repair vs Replace If the wire is cut by a rat, we can rejoin and tape it. If the sensor head is faulty, the whole unit must be replaced.
- 03.PCB Jack Check We ensure the PCB jack is clean and tight. Corrosion here often mimics a sensor failure.
