Hitachi Ac Error Codes

Diagnostic Protocol & Repair Guide

Technician Note

Always isolate power before inspecting high-voltage components.

System Fault Detected: Hitachi Ac Error Codes

Continuing to run equipment with this active code may void warranties or cause permanent mechanical failure.

Hitachi Air Conditioner Error Codes

Complete Diagnostic Guide for Split, Inverter, and VRF Systems

Diagnostic Tip: Before replacing any major components on Hitachi inverter models, always ensure the H-LINK communication wiring is securely fastened and that the system has been isolated from mains power for a full 5 minutes to clear temporary logic lockouts.

Hitachi Split & Inverter Systems (Room ACs)

These alphanumeric codes are typically displayed on the indoor wall-mounted unit’s digital panel or indicated by specific LED flash sequences.

Error CodeSystem Fault DescriptionTechnical Troubleshooting Steps
E01 / E02Indoor to Outdoor Communication ErrorInspect the connecting transmission wires between the indoor and outdoor units. Check the terminal block for loose connections or crossed wires. Inspect the main PCB for blown communication fuses.
E03High-Pressure Protection TripSystem pressure has exceeded safe limits. Thoroughly wash the outdoor condenser coil. Check the outdoor fan motor for proper RPM. Verify the system is not overcharged with refrigerant.
E04Low-Pressure Protection / Refrigerant ShortageSystem detects unusually low pressure. Check for closed service valves. Attach manifold gauges and perform a leak test if the standing pressure is significantly below normal limits.
E05Compressor Overload / High CurrentThe compressor is pulling too many amps. Test the compressor windings for a short to ground. On non-inverter models, check the run capacitor. Ensure the supply voltage is stable under load.
E08Indoor Blower Motor FaultThe indoor fan motor is not rotating or providing feedback. Check the motor wire harness. Spin the blower wheel manually to check for physical obstructions or seized bearings.
F01Room Temperature Thermistor FaultThe indoor ambient sensor is open or short-circuited. Check the resistance of the sensor against Hitachi’s technical specifications. Replace if faulty.
F02Evaporator Coil Thermistor FaultThe indoor coil copper-tube sensor has failed. Inspect the sensor wiring for physical damage or degradation at the sensor head.

Hitachi Commercial, Set-Free & VRF Systems

These numerical codes are typically found on the wired remote controller (like the PC-ARF) or directly on the 7-segment display of the outdoor unit’s main PCB.

Error CodeSystem Fault DescriptionTechnical Troubleshooting Steps
01Drain System AnomalyThe float switch in the indoor unit drain pan has activated. Clear the drain line blockage, check the condensate pump for failure, and verify the float switch is not stuck.
02High-Pressure Switch ActivationThe physical high-pressure switch (HPS) has tripped. Check for severe condenser blockage, failed outdoor fan, or restricted expansion valve (EEV).
03Abnormal Transmission (Indoor/Outdoor)Total loss of H-LINK communication. Check for severed bus wiring, incorrect addressing on the rotary switches, or lack of power to the outdoor unit.
04Abnormal Transmission (Inverter/Main PCB)Communication failure within the outdoor unit itself. Inspect the harness connecting the main control board to the inverter power module.
05Power Supply Phase ErrorIncorrect power supply detected. Verify incoming 3-phase power. Check for phase loss, phase reversal, or severe voltage imbalance at the main contactor.
08Compressor Discharge Temp Too HighDischarge thermistor reading exceeds safe limits (typically > 115°C/239°F). Indicates a severe lack of refrigerant, a malfunctioning EEV causing starvation, or internal compressor damage.
